YOUR SOLUTION AWAITS

The secure, branded client software for bankruptcy law firms.

Give your clients one secure, branded place to upload pay stubs, bank statements and tax returns, sign the engagement agreement and answer your questions, instead of sending their whole financial life by email. Every upload lands in the correct Case, so your team knows exactly what is still missing before the petition is filed.

Security and data protection

How FileButler protects your clients' financial records.

Documents are stored securely with Backblaze, a cloud storage provider that has achieved SOC 2 Type 2 compliance through an independent third-party audit.

  • Every document is stored across two separate United States data center regions for added resilience.

  • The database is backed up nightly, with encrypted backups stored in immutable storage designed to prevent alteration or deletion.

  • Backup restoration procedures are tested monthly to help ensure data can be recovered when needed.

The Problem

A debtor's paperwork should not live across five inboxes.

Pay stubs by email, bank statements by text message, the engagement agreement through a separate signing service and the credit counseling certificate tracked from memory: that is how documents go missing and petitions stall. FileButler gives your firm and your clients one professional place to exchange documents, sign agreements, communicate securely and keep a clean, documented record.

Replace the scattered chase with one documented workflow.

  • Before FileButler

Pay stubs as email attachments, third-party signing links, shared drives, sticky-note reminders and repeated follow-up calls before every filing.

  • With FileButler

A secure Case for every client, a starter bankruptcy document checklist, engagement agreement templates, electronic signatures, secure messaging and reminders in one branded workspace.

Built for real workflow

Not just storage. A complete client communication workspace.

Your firm manages document requests, engagement agreements, signatures, messages, client email, reminders and Case status from one branded workspace. Clients see exactly what is still needed. Attorneys keep oversight. Every step stays documented.

Automation

Effortless Workflows

Reminders for missing debtor documents send themselves, client replies file themselves, and engagement agreements fill in from the Case. Your paralegals spend their time on the petition and schedules, not the follow-up.

Control

Every File, One Place

Documents, signatures, messages and notes for each client meet in a single Case, with permission-based access deciding exactly who sees what.

Core Features

Everything your firm needs to collect client documents under your own brand.

FileButler handles the client-facing work that usually gets scattered across email attachments, signing links, shared drives and follow-up phone calls before every filing.

Documents & client files

Secure file storage and sharing

Collect, store, review and share client documents in organized folders with 100 GB included per paid license and additional storage at $4.95 per 100 GB or $39.95 per terabyte, encrypted at rest and in transit.

Cases and case tracking

Keep every client and every Case organized from the first consultation through discharge, with status tracking, document categories and internal notes.

Signatures & templates

Electronic Signatures with Certificate of Completion

Send engagement agreements, consent forms and other documents for electronic signature. FileButler generates a Certificate of Completion documenting the signing sequence, timestamps and signer identity.

Document templates with merge fields

Save reusable engagement agreements, intake questionnaires and consent forms as templates, with merge fields such as Chapter, Court and District and Attorney Fee that fill in from the Case.

Communication & follow-up

Portal notifications and email filing

Notifications go out from the portal with a link back to it, and clients answer in the portal. Email your clients send to your connected intake mailbox, with their file number in the subject, is filed to the right client folder automatically, so the paper trail stays complete without extra work.

Secure client and staff messaging

Every conversation stays tied to the right client folder. No lost threads, no searching a separate inbox to understand what was said.

Smart reminders

Request missing pay stubs and bank statements, follow up on unsigned engagement agreements and nudge stalled Cases. Reminders send on the schedule you choose and log to the Case.

Control & branding

Permission-based staff access

Admins control what each staff member can see and do, from messaging and emailing to viewing client information and signing authority.

White-label branding

Upload your logo and company name, choose a branded portal URL, and the portal looks like it belongs to your business, not the software vendor's.

Calendar

Never miss a deadline

Every deadline lives on one calendar and stays tied to the client folder it belongs to. Alarms and email reminders tell the right person before the date arrives.

Calendar views and Deadlines This Week

See your deadlines on the calendar, and check the Deadlines This Week list to know exactly what is due now.

Alarms and email reminders

Set an alarm and an email reminder on a deadline, so the people responsible hear about it ahead of time.

Deadlines tied to a folder

Link a deadline to a client folder, and it stays connected to the files, messages and notes it relates to.

Assigned and prioritized

Assign each deadline to a team member and set its priority, so everyone knows what is theirs and what comes first.

Color-coded topics

Give each topic its own color, so different kinds of work are easy to tell apart on the calendar.

Repeating deadlines and private items

Set a deadline to repeat, and it comes back on schedule without being entered again. Mark an item private when it is not meant for the rest of the team.

Email

Client email that files itself

Connect your own intake mailbox, and FileButler copies each new message and its attachments into the right client folder. Junk filtering keeps spam out, so your team only sees real client mail.

Automatic filing

Each message and its attachments land in the matching client folder, with no copying, forwarding or downloading.

Unmatched mail goes to the Inbox

When a message cannot be matched to a client, it waits in the Inbox until your team assigns it to the correct folder.

Inbox, Junk and Blocked

Mail is sorted into Inbox, Junk and Blocked, so real client mail stays separate from everything else.

Block a sender

Block a sender once, and mail from that address stays out of your Inbox from then on.

Full details on every email

Open any email to see its full details, including the sender, the date, the message and its attachments.

Notifications

Your team is notified when new client mail arrives, so nothing sits unread.

The Bankruptcy Law pack

FileButler was built with industry merge field packs. Pick bankruptcy law and FileButler pulls in field forms tailored to your firm. The starter checklist, merge fields and wording below are yours to edit, rename or remove at any time.

How it works

Launch your client portal in three steps.

Your team gets the structure. Your clients get a simple place to respond. Everyone gets fewer loose ends.

  1. 1

    Brand your workspace

Add your company name, logo and branded subdomain so the portal looks and feels like your business from the first login.

  2. 2

    Set up folders and templates

Pick bankruptcy law, open a Case for each client, and save the engagement agreement and intake questionnaire you send every time.

  3. 3

    Invite clients and staff

Clients upload pay stubs, bank statements and creditor letters, sign the engagement agreement and answer your questions. Paralegals work from the permissions an attorney approves.

Read the walkthrough overview

Welcome to FileButler

Welcome to FileButler, the secure, branded client portal software from Envisage Companies. If your client work still runs through email, attachments and shared drives, you already know the cost. Files get buried, nobody is sure which version is current, and you spend your day chasing paperwork instead of doing the work. FileButler gives every client one secure place, under your brand, where everything is already organized.

What your clients experience

Your clients receive a simple invitation and sign in to a portal that carries your name and logo. They see only their own files, a clear list of what you need from them, and your messages, all in one place. They can upload from a phone in the parking lot or from a laptop at the kitchen table, with nothing to install. The result is clients who send what you asked for the first time, and far fewer follow-up calls.

Every client, one folder

Every client gets a folder that follows the work from the first conversation to the finished job. You see at a glance where each one stands, which documents are in, which are still missing, and what happened last. Notes for your team stay private to your team. And the checklist speaks your industry's language, so clients recognize exactly what you are asking for.

Stop chasing documents

Instead of asking for the same documents three times, you tell FileButler once. Clients see each item you need and whether it has been received. Every upload is time stamped and kept with its version history, so an updated form never overwrites the original. Documents, photos, video and audio all upload the same way, and large files upload in pieces with a progress bar, even on a slow connection.

Your letters and forms, filled in for you

The letters, agreements and forms you send every week become templates. Add a blank for the client's name, the file number or the date, and FileButler fills it in from the client's record. Preview the finished document, then send it to the client or send it for signature, and it stays with that client's file. What used to take fifteen minutes of copying and pasting takes about one.

Signatures without the chase

Getting a signature should not mean printing, scanning and waiting. Send any document for signature from the client's folder. The client gets an email, opens the document, signs by drawing or typing, and is done in under a minute, from any device. Every signed document comes with a Certificate of Completion that records who signed, when, and in what order, and both stay attached to the client's file.

Client email that files itself

Clients will always email you, and that is fine. Connect your intake mailbox, and when a message arrives with a file number, FileButler copies the message and its attachments into the right client folder for you, within minutes. Anything it cannot match waits in one inbox for a quick assignment. No more digging through a shared mailbox to find the attachment someone sent last Tuesday.

Never miss a deadline

Every deadline lives on one calendar and stays tied to the client it belongs to. The Deadlines This Week view shows your team what is coming, alarms and email reminders make sure nothing slips, and each deadline can be assigned to a person, given a priority, color coded by topic or set to repeat. Missing a date because it was written on a sticky note stops being a risk.

Conversations that stay with the file

Messages live inside the client's folder, so every question and every answer stays with the matter it is about, and anyone on your team can pick up the thread. When a client goes quiet on a document request, FileButler sends the reminder for you, in your words and on your schedule, and logs it in the file. Follow-up happens without anyone remembering to do it.

Your team, your rules

You decide what each person on your team can see and do. Give a new hire access to their own clients only. Let a senior team member change status and manage client accounts. Keep deleting folders to yourself. Permissions take seconds to set and seconds to change, so bringing someone on or moving them off a client never means handing over everything.

A complete record when it matters

When a client disputes what happened, or an auditor asks, you need the record, not your memory. FileButler keeps an activity log for every folder: every upload, status change, message, reminder and signature, with who did it and when. Finished work moves to the File Archive, and anything deleted by mistake can be restored from the Recycle Bin. The paper trail builds itself while you work.

Security your clients can trust

Your clients are trusting you with their most sensitive documents, and FileButler is built for that trust. Every sign-in requires a verification code. Files are encrypted while they move and while they are stored, and they are kept with an independently audited storage provider across two separate United States data centers. The database is backed up every night, and those backups are tested every month. You get enterprise-grade protection without an IT department.

Your brand, on every device

Your clients see your business, not ours. Your logo, your company name and your own web address carry through the portal, the emails and the signing experience. Clients and staff can work from a desktop browser, the desktop app, an iPhone or an Android phone, and a built-in Help Center answers the common questions before they ever reach your team.

Questions

Questions bankruptcy firms ask before they start.

Our clients send us pay stubs, bank statements, tax returns and every debt they owe. How do you keep that confidential?

Every login to FileButler needs a password plus a six-digit code emailed to that person, every time, for your attorneys, your paralegals and every client, so a stolen password alone cannot open your account. Each client sees only their own Cases, each staff member sees only what you allow, and those rules are enforced on our servers. Every connection is encrypted, files are stored with Backblaze, Inc. in the United States, and a permanent Audit Log records deletions, restores, whole-folder downloads and account changes. Our Privacy Policy commits us to treating your content as confidential, using it only to provide the service, and never sending it to an outside artificial intelligence provider.

Is FileButler actually set up for a bankruptcy practice?

Yes. Each matter is a Case, and every Case carries the fields a bankruptcy file needs: Chapter, with Chapter 7, 11, 12 and 13 ready to choose, Court and District, Trustee, Meeting of Creditors Date, Plan Payment, Plan Confirmation Date and Discharge Date. Your templates can also fill in the Court Name, Case Caption, Docket Number, Hearing Date, Attorney Fee and Court Filing Fee, and the key date on every Case is the Petition Date. Every field is customizable for the way your firm practices.

What documents will FileButler ask our debtors to provide?

Your checklist comes ready with nineteen items: Signed Engagement Agreement, Client Intake Questionnaire, Credit Counseling Certificate, Pay Stubs and Income Documents, Tax Returns, Bank Statements, Debt and Creditor List, Creditor Correspondence and Collection Letters, Medical Debt Statements, Mortgage and Real Estate Documents, Vehicle Titles and Loan Statements, Means Test Documents, Statement of Financial Affairs, Petition, Schedules, and Court Filings, Meeting of Creditors Notice, Trustee Correspondence, Reaffirmation Agreements, Discharge Documents and Attorney Fee Invoices. Income is already split into Debtor, Spouse and Other Income, bank statements into Checking, Savings and Other Accounts, and court filings into Petition, Schedules and Court Orders.

Gathering documents from debtors is the slowest part of every case. How does FileButler help?

Each Case shows what has arrived and what is still missing, with a progress bar. Tick the items you still need, such as six months of pay stubs or the credit counseling certificate, and click Send Document Request: the client gets an email listing exactly those items with a button to their upload page. Automatic reminders keep following up, for example when documents are still outstanding after 7 days, so your paralegals stop making the same chasing calls.

Can clients upload documents from their phone? Many of ours don't have a computer.

Yes. Clients log in from their phone's browser, photograph a pay stub or a collection letter and upload it straight into their Case, with nothing to download from an app store. iPhone photos are accepted, and they can send up to 20 files at a time.

Can clients sign the engagement agreement electronically?

Yes. Save your engagement agreement as a template, and FileButler fills in the client's name, Chapter, Attorney Fee and Court Filing Fee before it goes out. The client signs in the browser, by drawing or typing, and the signed copy files itself into their Case with a Certificate of Completion recording who signed, when and from which internet address. Signatures are unlimited and included in the price. Court rules on signatures for petitions and other filings are set by the court, so follow your district's requirements for those.

Can we use our existing engagement agreement and intake questionnaire in Word?

Yes. Upload your Word documents, type the field names in double curly brackets where the details go, and FileButler keeps your letterhead and formatting while filling in each client's details. Your intake questionnaire works the same way, or clients can fill in your online intake form with up to 100 fields you design.

Can FileButler keep track of the meeting of creditors and other dates?

Yes. Each Case records the Petition Date, Meeting of Creditors Date, Plan Confirmation Date and Discharge Date. Put each one on the Calendar, assign it to an attorney or paralegal with a priority, and FileButler emails that person before it is due. Share a date with the client and they see it in their own account, with an optional email reminder, so fewer debtors miss their meeting of creditors.

Can creditors or the trustee's office send us documents?

Yes. Your account has its own intake email address. Anyone, including a creditor or the trustee's office, can email it with the client's file number in the subject line, and the email and its attachments file themselves into that Case within minutes. Mail from anyone other than the client stays private from the client until you choose to share it.

Can we keep attorney notes the client can't see?

Yes. Add notes to any Case and mark them Staff only, and the client never sees them. Anything your team uploads also starts out private, and the client sees it only after you share it.

Can we control what our paralegals and assistants can see and do?

Yes. Each staff member gets their own login and only the permissions you tick: viewing all Cases, changing a Case's status, adding notes, messaging clients, managing client accounts, managing deadlines or sending reminders. A Case marked Private is visible only to the person who created it.

Can clients message us securely instead of calling for updates?

Yes. Clients write to your team inside FileButler, and each conversation stays with their Case, so months later you can see exactly what was said. Each Case also shows its status, Submitted, In Review, Pending for more information or Complete, so clients can check where things stand without calling.

Does FileButler connect to our bankruptcy petition software?

Not directly. FileButler does not connect to petition preparation software at this time. It works alongside it, handling the client side: collecting documents against your checklist, getting the engagement agreement signed, reminding clients and keeping every conversation with the right Case.

How long can we keep closed cases in FileButler?

Open Cases stay as long as you subscribe. When you mark a Case Complete, it moves to the File Archive and stays there until you delete it. To keep your own copy as well, use Download Everything to save a complete copy of your account, with every Case and its documents, notes and messages organized by folder.

Can a client get a copy of their whole file?

Yes. Clients can download any document you have shared with them at any time. Your team can download an entire Case, every document in one ZIP file, with Download All.

Does anyone at FileButler see our clients' information?

Your content is used only to run your account, and we never sell it, use it for marketing or send it to an artificial intelligence service. The few support actions FileButler can take, such as restoring an item you emptied from the Recycle Bin, are recorded in your Audit Log where you can see them.

We're a small bankruptcy firm. What would FileButler cost us?

$39.95 a month for each person on your team who logs in, with unlimited clients, unlimited signatures and 100 gigabytes of storage per license. An attorney and two paralegals pay $119.85 a month. There is no setup fee, and the monthly plan starts with 2 weeks free so you can try it with real cases.

What files can our clients send us?

</path><path d="M12 5v14"></path></svg></summary><p class="mt-3 animate-[fb-fade-down_.3s_ease] text-muted-gray text-[15px] leading-6">Clients can send documents (PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, PowerPoint, plain text and saved emails), photos (JPG, PNG, TIFF, iPhone HEIC and camera raw), videos (MP4, MOV, M4V, 3GP, WebM, AVI and MKV) and audio recordings (M4A, MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, Opus and FLAC), straight from a phone or computer. Every upload shows a progress bar, large files go up in pieces that retry on their own, and videos and recordings play right in the browser with skip-ahead. ZIP archives are not accepted.
